Dating back to the beginning of the 19th century, discover how the Clements family built and managed their estate through the hard graft of local Irish workers. Cycle to its sister hotel Kilronan Castle and discover its great history and explore the estate as it sits overlooking the beautiful Lough Meelagh. The next stop on this historic tour will take in a cycle to Arigna mines. Mining was carried out in Arigna for 400 years until 1990 when the mines finally closed. Experience this for yourself at Arigna Mining Museum. Walk underground through what was the last working mine in Ireland and see how the coal was mined. Take a journey with expert guides and ex miners for a truly memorable experience. The last part of this magnificent cycle tour will bring you to Lough Key forest park. East to West Cycle tour - From the historic buildings of Maynooth, to Belvedere House in the heart of the Irish midlands, we would encourage our customers to try out these cycle routes outside of the main tourist thoroughfares. This tour also includes a visit to the Historic Parkes castle. Cycle on to County Sligo and spend quality time in Sligo town and Mullaghmore with visits to Classiebawn castle. A visit to the village of Drumcliff where the legendary Irish poet W.B Yeats is buried is also recommended and part of this great tour.
